My previous job was in the utility space (market knowledge). I have an MBA (business/growth training) and I'm also a Partner in a brewpub (entrepreneurial experience). Now, my job is a combination of my skill sets. In my new role, I am the Director of Customer Success at a start-up security and compliance software company that supports tech-driven industries including Utilities.

"I wasn’t really on the job hunt. My previous company was great. But while I was passively browsing open jobs, I discovered an opportunity that was too perfect for me to pass. If I could have written my ideal role for my next career advancement, this would be it.

First off, I love Chicago tech. The startup space is exciting, and I wanted to be a part of it. The work this company is doing is truly impactful. And, the fact that they were actively recruiting during COVID was impressive. That is not the case for many companies, especially for roles related to marketing. It was a positive sign of growth.

There are a lot of cool perks about working at a startup, like working out of the TechNexus space within the iconic Civic Opera house. But there are also some challenges. While working with HirexHire, we had many honest conversations to make sure I was fully aware of those challenges and that the company and I were going to be a mutual fit.
